My first Zumba class I took was at the end of June 2009, and it was the beginning of getting healthy, strong, and loving exercise like I never have before in my life.
I spent the past two years researching, and learning everything I could about Asperger’s ( a form of Autism), and about the Gluten Free/Casein (milk protein) Free way of eating. In August 2007, my oldest son was diagnosed with Asperger’s (a form of Autism), and my husband and I were willing to do anything humanly possible to make our son’s life, and our life, as “normal” as possible. This meant that I was putting my health and exercise routine aside, and spending every meal, and part of each day, devoting time to figuring out how to avoid these foods, and what Therapy was next in helping our son and our family. I am happy to say, that after having blood work done to find out other food intolerances, months of speech therapy and occupational therapy, our son is doing very well, and most people don’t even know he is even on the Autism Spectrum.
After gaining over 20 pounds during that time, I decided it was time to put myself back on the priority list.
I heard about Zumba from a friend of mine, and decided to give it a try. I went to my first class, and loved it so much that I couldn’t wait for the next class. Juanita was the instructor, and she was full of energy, strong, and healthy, and all of the ladies in the class were very supportive, and encouraging.
What I have gained the most from doing Zumba, is how strong I can be , how much endurance I have, and how firm and toned that it makes you. I have lost many inches, and almost 15 pounds! Most importantly, I have gained a healthy mind and body, and made lifelong friends in Juanita, Marcia, Lara, Lynn, and many students from our classes.
I love teaching, and seeing everyone work toward the same goal of being healthy, happy and having fun! Please come and join any one of our classes-you will never regret it!
God Bless!
